126. The Journey of a School Board Member Mom

There’s no better time than today to get involved with what’s going on in our children’s lives, especially in the public school setting. Our guest, Kelly Carter, is a recently elected official on her school board and she’s here to tell us how God has strategically fit the puzzle pieces of her life together to prepare her for this great assignment.
Ready to hear the spiritual and practical steps Kelly took to become an elected official on her school board? Let’s go!
KELLY CARTER and her husband, Joe, have been married 23 years and have 8 children. After high school, Kelly attended Messiah University for two years as an Elementary Education Major. She transferred to Rowan University to finish her degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education with a specialization in Math and Science.
While attending high school and college, Kelly worked in daycare and as an aide in an elementary classroom.
When she graduated from college, she began working in her hometown as a Kindergarten teacher. She had two children and then moved to Pennsylvania for her husband’s job.
In Pennsylvania, Kelly worked for a local church in several leadership roles within their kidMinistry. Kelly and Joe have also been involved in the foster care system for the last ten years and have adopted five of their eight children through foster care. Kelly is a part-time substitute teacher as she cares for her four year old at home and manages the many appointments, schedules and laundry.
Kelly’s life experiences have uniquely prepared her to step into the role of a School Board director. Having children throughout the district also gives her a ground level perspective to aid in decision making within the Board.

We are repeating one of our most loved episodes from 2023 with our partner and True Girl founder Dannah Gresh. Scripture tells us that Jesus was a good friend - He stayed in relationships even when they were difficult. Kori asks the question “Is it possible to raise children to love Jesus, imitate Him, and be a good friend to others even when it’s tough?” The answer is “yes,” and you’ll hear some great stories to help you navigate the “how” from Dannah.
Ready to redefine friendship according to Scripture? Let’s go!

You’ve heard it said before that you can’t know WHO you are unless you know WHOSE you are. Our guest, Hannah Conway, is a speaker, podcaster and author of a new devotional called “In Case You Forget.” She zeros in on the importance of knowing our identity so that we can stay on mission and be effective, unshaken and foundationally sound in our faith. Hannah brings us to God’s Word for all the things, and takes us deeper by asking better questions about identity such as “God, who are YOU?” and “How can I reflect who you are in this situation?” You’ll learn some practical ways to combat lies with the truth and be inspired to share with your kids!
Ready to hear how you can teach kids about their identity, in case they forget? Let’s go!

Tuesday Dec 12, 2023
Hopefully you’re already immersed in the joy of the Christmas season and well on your way to completing your shopping lists…but are you ready for the conversations that may come up this time of year between your child and their school teacher? 90% of Americans celebrate Christmas, yet it seems many do not know their legal lane in the public school setting when it comes to expressing faith during the holidays.
In this episode, Kori & Lee discuss how you can kindly educate others about the religious rights children have in public school and how to voice their beliefs well.
Are you ready to hear how your kids can legally proclaim that Jesus is the reason for the season in their classroom? Let’s go!

118. Generosity Starts At Home
Tuesday Nov 21, 2023
Tuesday Nov 21, 2023
Growing up on a dairy farm, Steve Herr learned early in life how to work hard, efficiently, and reap a harvest. You’ll hear how he was raised to prioritize family, neighbors and live a lifestyle of generosity. Steve shares the intentional ways his family has loved on others, beginning with strong Biblical values in their home.
Ready to hear Steve’s advice for actively living out generosity? Let’s go!
STEVE HERR, Bible2School bus driver and volunteer, came into this world with two amazing privileges — an American citizen and Christian God-fearing parents. It took time to learn to appreciate these but he has come to understand the meaning of both. He believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins and the American soldier died for his freedom. When Steve was about 11 years old he professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In so doing he has been spared a lot of heartache in this present life and has grown in his spiritual walk through the years and looks forward to eternal life with his creator God. Steve is blessed to have a faithful wife with whom to serve the Lord. They know that the most important thing in life is a personal relationship with God and that is what drives them to build a Christian heritage and support the ministries that profess a Bible believing perspective.

![117. How Do You Protect Your Child Against Harmful Cultural Elements In The School System?](https://pbcdn1.podbean.com/imglogo/image-logo/11916452/The_Bible2School_Podcast_with_Meredith6diof_300x300.png)

Did you know that only 1% of Gen Z has a Biblical worldview? So it came as no surprise that we recently discovered the #1 question Christian parents ask is, “How can I best protect my child from harmful cultural elements while still keeping them in the public school system?” Kori & Lee’s conversation shifts the paradigm from “how can we protect” to “how can we prepare” our children to stand firm in their faith and know the rights they have in their schools. We want our kids to graduate high school confident and ready for the world - and the best way to do that is to walk closely alongside them in truth right now.
Ready to prepare your kids to stand firm in their faith at school no matter what culture is pushing? Let’s go!
