Episode 64 - Kids, the Bible & Silly Songs w/ Phredd
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
Tuesday Oct 25, 2022
Our guest today, Fred McNaughton (known as Phredd), has been with one of our local Christian radio stations since 1984! Early in his career, Phredd discovered that kids didn’t really know how to worship, because they were never taught! Knowing that the “joy of the Lord is our strength” and raising 8 children of his own, Phredd set out to change this using the talents God entrusted to him.
Phredd will tell you that laughter brings down walls and helps us to connect - and today he will share with you some of the songs that have helped him do this, and in turn have helped the next generation know how to worship with their whole being.
Ready to hear how laughter and fun teaches our children to worship? Let’s go…
FRED MCNAUGHTON is the morning show host and station manager of Central PA’s Christian Radio Station WJTL. Fred is also the Children’s Performer, “Phredd”. For the past 25+ years Phredd has been writing, producing and performing joyful, happy music for kids and families. His songs “Awooga”, “Don’t Take Your Dog To Church”, “Floating Zoo”, “The Coffee Song” and “My Mom is a Pirate” are favorites on the Kids Cookie Break (Saturday mornings on WJTL with host Lisa Landis) and staples of the 50+ Phredd shows performed every year at schools, churches, libraries, camps & other events. In addition to performing his own shows, Phredd is also a member of Steven Courtney and the Suitcase Musicians. Steven Courtney and Phredd are songwriting partners that have created many family favorites over the years including “42 Monkeys”, “Elmer’s Electric Tricycle” and “Jump For Jesus”. Did you know that the FIRST thing God says to the Israelites after giving them the ten commandments is to teach them to their children? Yep! In Deuteronomy 6, God commands us to impress His word on our children ALL.THE.TIME. But how?! Thankfully it doesn’t have to be a sermon - it can be simple!
First, we have to love the Lord with all that WE are in order to authentically teach this to the kids in our lives. Then, we get to talk about it with them in our homes, as we walk along the road, when we lie down, and when we wake!
Listen in to learn more about loving God with all you’ve got as Lee & Kori discuss the greatest commandment given to us in scripture.

Is truth true for everyone? Even though our guest today, Elizabeth Urbanowicz, was a teacher in a Christian elementary school, most of her students could not answer "yes" to this question. They had memorized the scripture that says "Jesus is the way the truth and the life", but they didn't have the foundation to defend this truth. Elizabeth’s ministry, “Foundation Worldview”, created materials that equip kids to carefully evaluate every idea they encounter so they can understand the truth, and discover for themselves that the Bible consistently lines up with what they find in the world around them!
Ready to teach the children in your life how to be active evaluators of their culture? Let’s go!
ELIZABETH URBANOWICZ (er-ban-o-wits)
is a follower of Jesus Christ who is passionate about equipping kids to
understand the truth of the Christian worldview.
Elizabeth began her professional career as an elementary teacher in a Christian school. Several years into her teaching experience, Elizabeth realized that despite being raised in Christian homes, attending a Christian school, and being active in church, her students thought more like the culture than like Christ. Elizabeth began searching for curricular materials that would equip her students to think critically, helping them discover that Christianity is the worldview that lines up with reality. After not finding any materials that met this need, she began creating a curriculum for her students.
Elizabeth first taught Foundation Comparative Worldview Curriculum as an after-school class for third through fifth graders, and the results were incredible! Students were transformed from passive recipients of information to active evaluators of every message they receive. Parents and teachers alike noticed the impact these materials had on students’ media consumption, academic achievement, and everyday habits. This transformation lasted beyond the elementary years and guided students’ thinking in junior high and beyond.
Elizabeth now works full-time on developing comparative worldview and apologetics resources for children.
Her goal is to prepare the next generation to be lifelong critical thinkers and, most importantly, lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ.

Episode 57 - Praying Scripture over the Children in your Life with Jodie Berndt
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
If you could ask God to do anything for your family, what would it be?
Jodie Berndt, our guest today, surveyed families on this very question before publishing her first book in 2001. Jodie took the top 20 topics, went to the Word to see what God had to say about them, and shaped the table of contents for Praying the Scriptures for Your Children.
When Jodie started praying God's Word back to Him, she began seeing amazing answers...
Speaking scriptures into and over our kids - it fills them with that sense of value and worth in God's site. He loves them for who they are! When the bigger questions come along, they can have that anchor and rootedness to know who they are and whose they are. This will be their greatest defense against the patterns of this world.
Ready to hear examples of praying scripture boldly over the children in your life? Let's go!
JODIE BERNDT is the author of the Praying the Scriptures book series, including the bestselling Praying the Scriptures for Your Children. A speaker and Bible teacher, Jodie is a repeat guest on programs like Focus on the Family, the 700 Club, and a variety of popular podcasts, and she has
been a contributing writer for Fox News, Club31Women, Ann Voskamp’s daily devotional, and Proverbs 31 Ministries.
Jodie writes about prayer and other family topics in her email newsletter and on Instagram. To download the collection of free resources (including printable prayer cards and calendars), visit JodieBerndt.com.
Jodie and her husband, Robbie, have four adult children and live in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Episode 56 - God’s Love Letter to Us with Anita Keagy
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
Striving to live for Jesus is a gift and a challenge wrapped in one - do you sometimes feel like you're a hamster on a wheel, spinning around going nowhere fast?
This is how Anity Keagy, mom, grandmom and creator of JoyShop Ministries, felt until she heard the Lord speak Matthew 6:33 over her. "SEEK FIRST His Kingdom, and everything else you need will be given to you." As she started to walk this verse out, she surrendered her whole self to Jesus - and discovered this verse to be the answer to abundant life!
Ready to hear Anita & Kori discuss an amazing testimony that parallels God's love letters to us? Let's Go...
ANITA KEAGY founded JoyShop Ministries in 2006 with one simple mission: to inspire people to prioritize spending time with God every day through Bible reading and prayer. Since then, she has traveled nationwide and internationally, sharing her message of seeking God first each day as the key to abundant life and joy.
Anita candidly shares about her teenage pregnancy as a preacher’s daughter and the difficult choice to place her daughter for adoption. Although she never had the privilege to see or hold her child, Anita never stopped yearning to know her daughter, even as she married and had four more children. Through a file of letters and the help of her adoption agency, Anita finally met her first-born 21 years later. God used Anita’s own desire to know her child to impress upon her how much He wants to know His children-us! With that knowledge, JoyShop Ministries was born, which is now thriving and impacting lives every day!
Anita is the author of The File: A Mother and Child’s Life-Changing Reunion. Her motivational six session DVD series, Seeking God First found on RightNow Media, PureFlix, Crossflix, and Vision Video, has encouraged and challenged those who long for a deeper relationship with God. Her DVD, Letters to an Unknown Daughter is her personal testimony of motherhood, hope, and healing. Her book and DVD series, along with additional supportive materials, can be purchased on her website.
Anita lives in Washington Boro, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Paul. She is the mother of 5 adult children and 14 grandchildren. She attended Messiah College and also received training from Kay Arthur, of Precept Ministries, and Anne Graham Lotz.
